TallaT

Ideas competition for a care equipment and dwellings for older people in the social housing of Camp Redó, Palma. 2011, Consorci Riba.

The existing social housing imposes the need of maintaining the rectangular volume, but to rebuild it. So, the new building has the same floor ground but from first to third ground the volume splits in three small pieces.

It’s a “TallaT” building (“tallat” means cut in catalan). This way, the connection with its surroundings is bigger than now. Furthermore, the new terraces, which now no longer exist, make the neighbours live in a truly community.
